Colorful Paper Craft to Adorn Wonju Hanji Festival

The 12th Wonju Hanji Festival will open in Wonju, Gangwon-do from Sept. 9 to 12, with the slogan “East meets West, Wonju Hanji.” Hanji is a Korean traditional paper made -from mulberry tree bark.

The opening ceremony will be a “Hanji Fashion Show” with the theme of “Five Colors of the East” to showcase over 60 modern clothing designs using Hanji as a textile, including evening dresses, wedding gowns, and casual attires, made by students and faculty from Sangji Youngseo College and Gangneung-Wonju National University.

International Students Invited to Experience Beauty, Taste of Traditional Korean Tea

In tandem with the Korea Foundation, The Korean National University of Cultural Heritage will be holding “Korean Culture Program for International Students in Korea: Korea’s Traditional Tea Culture” for 3 days from July 7th to 9th as part of a global educational exchange course.

Since its initiation in 2008, around 63 people have participated in the program, which aims to deepen international students’ understanding of Korean tradition while promoting human relations and cultural exchange among participants.

Yeongdong Grape and Nangye Gugak Festivals

The 43rd Yeongdong Nangye Traditional Music Festival will be held from Sept. 3 to 7 in Yeongdong County, Chungcheongbuk-do(Province).

 

The festival was established by Yeongdong County and the Nangye Memorial Association to honor scholar Park Yeon (1378-1458), who played a central role in laying a foundation for Korean traditional music, or gugak, under the pen name Nangye in the early 15th century.
